SECOND ANNUAL TOWN BUDGET MEETING
May 26, 2009
The Second Annual Budget Meeting of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of East Hampton was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the East Hampton Town Hall in the Eaton Smith Meeting Room.
Moderator Robert McKinney opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Moderator McKinney directed Town Clerk, Sandra Wieleba, to read the Legal Call. Motion made by Mr. George Pfaffenbach and seconded by Mr. Christopher Goff to accept the Legal Call. Motion passed.

Item. #1. To take action pursuant to Section 7 – 7 of the Connecticut General Statutes to set the time and date for a referendum by “YES” or “NO” vote on voting machines for the approval or disapproval of the Annual Budget for fiscal year 2009-2010 as recommended by the Town Council.
Moderator McKinney requested resolution #1.
Ms. Melissa Engel presented “RESOLVED that this Town Meeting sets the date of Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a referendum by “YES” or “NO” vote on voting machines for approval or disapproval of the annual budget for fiscal year 2009-2010 as recommended by the Board of Finance and approved by the Town Council”, seconded by Mr. Christopher Goff. Moderator McKinney called for a vote on the resolution #1 as there was no discussion or questions. Vote declared in affirmative.

Motion by Ms. Melissa Engel to recess the budget meeting at 6:04 p.m., to the referendum on June 2, 2009 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. seconded by Mr. George Pfaffenbach. Motion passed.

REFERENDUM June 2, 2009 Deputy Moderator David Simko called the adjourned Town Meeting to order at 6:00 a.m. and voting began and continued until 8:00 p.m. Deputy Moderator Simko called for counting of machine votes. Deputy Moderator Simko reported that the budget passed. Motion to adjourn by Mr. John Tuttle and seconded by Ms. Judy Isele. Deputy Moderator Simko called for vote. Vote in affirmative. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
An Optical scanner machine was used and 5 absentee ballots were received and counted with none being rejected as follows:
